I pray you’ll join us and learn new and exciting things too from His Word.
This Week We're Looking at Delight
Having a relationship with Jesus is the absolute delight of my heart. What I love about reading His Word is that it speaks right to me right when I need it most. It speaks to my heart and breathes life into my soul.
But it was not always that way. Growing up, the Bible felt cumbersome, restrictive, and hard to understand. Of course, I knew the stories by heart, but to read and digest it for myself seemed an impossible task. What seemed more unattainable was following all of God's ways.
Much of my young life was spent in rebellion and counter to pleasing God. I could play the part when I needed to, but when I thought no one would notice, I lived for myself. I had come to a point in my life where nothing was making sense. All the guilt and shame of my life had become heavy baggage and I couldn’t set it down or sort it out on my own. Then the unthinkable happened. While I was in my twenty-first week of pregnancy, I found out the twins I was carrying were no longer viable. In a moment, my heart and world instantly turned upside down. But God... "He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me." 2 Samuel 22:20
When God rescued me, He also required my absolute surrender. Don't be mistaken, He requires absolute surrender of us all. Our surrender is His delight because it means we give our lives to Him.
My life could not be in rebellion to what His Word says. My personal delight had to become "in the law of the LORD," and on His law, I had to meditate day and night (Psalm 1:2). When His Word became the treasure of my heart, I began to see His great love move into the spaces where I earlier felt restriction. God filled me with the blessings of His mercy, protection, grace, and forgiveness. "Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
Surrender became, not only a necessity but the absolute desire of my heart. When I understood the most important thing was making God the LORD of my life, I realized He had already given me the desires of my heart. The relationship that I have with Jesus is my greatest joy.
As my relationship with God has grown, I have taken great pleasure in the truth that The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of our lives (Psalm 37:23). Wherever He leads me, I can be confident as I follow Him. God has not only laid my path out perfectly for me, but He has gone before me and knows what each day holds. "In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul." Psalm 94:19
The most amazing news in the entire world is that the Creator of your soul delights and finds pleasure in you. You don't have to earn His love. He loves because He is love and He has given His Son as the ultimate sacrifice to show that love.
When you are walking in His ways and this truth, you are given the greatest gift. You will find that God is the ultimate delight of this world and to Him, nothing will compare. I pray that you know this love and it will become for you the greatest joy in your life.

I love this: "When His Word became the treasure of my heart, I began to see His great love move into the spaces where I earlier felt restriction." What looks like restriction on the outside of surrender looks like love within surrender.

When I think of God delighting himself in me, I think about him finding joy and refreshment in my presence. I am his child and in his presence is fullness of joy. Surely, there is residue of that joy all over me, his child. I have accepted him as my savior and chosen to walk with him. He finds joy in that knowledge. It makes him happy to be around me. So happy it makes him sing. WOW!

I love this! What a delight it is to have that wonderful relationship with our Lord. However, it is only when we surrender all to Him that we are able to see the full blessings of that relationship.
