3 Biblical Statements: From Beginning to End
"And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good..." (Genesis 1:31a)
"When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished,' and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit." (John 19:30)
"And He said to me, 'It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.’" (Revelation 21:6)
IT IS GOOD. IT IS FINISHED. IT IS DONE!
From beginning to end, God’s Word is His love letter to us. It invites us to “Come” and offers us “the water of life without price" (Revelation 22:17).
In Genesis, we read the account of creation and a perfect world. God, “saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good” (Genesis 1:31). Of course, we know that soon after creation man brought sin into the world by his disobedience to God. And we know the payment for sin was the sacrifice of God’s Son. In the book of John, the Apostle records the crucifixion as Jesus, Christ. Hanging there on that cross for you and me He said, “‘It is finished,’ and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit" (John 19:30). Finally, near the end of Revelation, we read John’s account of his vision of the new Heaven and new Earth. He writes, “And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new... Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ And He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.'” (Revelation 21:5-6). |
Let's study these three books of the Bible together—Genesis, the Gospel of John, and Revelation. I love to call Genesis and Revelation the bookend books of the Bible. And the Gospel of John, well that, my friend, is the pivotal point of the whole Bible. It's the pivotal point of God's redeeming plan and the pivotal point of all human history! Let's dive into these three books and these statements.
