If you had been a fly on the wall in our house this morning, you would have witnessed quite a few tears being shed at breakfast. As my daughter was finishing up her food, I began to give her instructions about what she needed to do next. I could tell straight away that she was not listening to me. Naturally, I repeated myself and made my voice a little louder, hoping to gain her attention. Unfortunately, instead of heeding my words, she began to do the exact opposite of what I was telling her to do. So, I raised my voice even louder, but she still failed to listen and obey what I was saying. Everything came to a dramatic head when it took both my husband and myself admonishing her with a sharp tone to finally get her attention. And this is where the waterworks came rushing in.

After dealing with the issue of her failure to listen and obey, she said to me with eyes still brimming with tears...

There is confidence for the believer in his faith. I love this letter because we live in a world full of uncertainty, but God’s Word, specifically John’s letter, gives us hope in knowing Christ and exercising genuine faith. Today, I want us to explore the biblical definition of love. Love is a concept that has been explored, celebrated, and debated throughout human history. It's a central theme in literature, music, and art, but its truest definition is found in the pages of the Bible. In 1 Corinthians 13, often referred to as the "love chapter," the Apostle Paul provides us with a profound insight into the true biblical meaning of love. According to the thirteenth chapter of 1 Corinthians, love is multifaceted. It is patient, kind, rejoices in truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. This portrayal of love paints a picture of endurance, compassion, and unwavering support. However, just as importantly, Paul also outlines what love is not. Love is not envious, boastful, arrogant, rude, insistent on its own ways, irritable, or resentful. This serves as a stark reminder that true love is selfless, humble, and considerate of others.

4 Truths for the Sufferer and Caregiver

I recently sat in on a different small group at my church and the topic was about sufferers and caregivers.

I find myself particularly interested in this subject at the season of life since I am most likely destined to be a caregiver and the thought of caregiving frightens me somewhat.

I am not a natural caregiver, at least I don't see myself in that light. However, I know that with God's strength and wisdom, I can be whatever He calls me to be.

Today, Let's look at the reality of becoming a sufferer or a caregiver, and how we as Christians can be the patient sufferers and the loving caregivers Christ calls us to be.

Did you know that in Psalm 91:1-2, there are four names of God used? It's the only 2 verses of Scripture where this many names of God are used in one place that I know of.

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High [EL ELYON] will abide in the shadow of the Almighty [EL SHADDAI]. I will say to the Lord [ADONAI], 'My refuge and my fortress, my God [ELOHIM], in whom I trust.'” Ps 91:1-2

I discovered these four names of God in Psalm 91 while researching for my book "16 Names of God: a Strong Tower to Run to."
