Seeing the One in the Crowd

2/20/2026

Seeing the One in the Crowd is a Christ-centered blog post exploring compassion in Matthew 8-9 and Jesus’ call in Matthew 9:36-38. Discover how Christ modeled personal ministry, touching lepers, healing the sick, and seeing individuals within the multitudes. This Gospel-focused devotional challenges believers to practice Christian compassion, pray for laborers, and engage in intentional, one-on-one evangelism with Christlike love in everyday life.

Learning to See People With Compassion Like Jesus

I am a missionary and spend time in the States in missions’ conferences and hear lots of good preaching about our need to go to the lost and share Christ with them. It is my life’s passion to point people to Christ. But it is easier to speak about that in generalities in relation to the masses of people. I have stood on a street corner in cities like London, Rome, and Bangkok and watched the masses of people move from place to place. I don’t know these people, but I know that, more than likely, the vast majority of them need to hear the truth of the Gospel. How do we make the need to share the Gospel with the masses personal? I believe one answer is found in Matthew 8-9.

5 Principles to Follow as You Look to God’s Plan

1/23/2026

Discover 5 biblical principles to follow as you seek God’s plan instead of your own. This encouraging Christian blog post explores trusting God when plans change, surrendering control, overcoming worry, and growing in faith through life transitions. Rooted in Scripture like Proverbs 16:9 and Proverbs 3:5-6, it offers hope and guidance for navigating unexpected change, ministry shifts, family crises, and seasons of uncertainty with confidence in God’s will.
I don’t know what your tradition is at the start of a new year, but I often spend some time looking back at the year that has passed and considering what God has done while I anticipate the year ahead and what God will do. This year was no different in that regard, but it was unique in the circumstances for me.

Last year, I was able to spend Christmas and New Year’s with missionary friends in Italy. As I left Italy early in January 2025, I asked the Lord what He had planned for me in 2025. I had plans for the ministry in England, and for enlarging my influence with other ministries the Lord had opened for me as well. I never expected to be sitting here one year later, making plans to leave my ministry in England, which I love with all my heart, to move to another foreign country and start all over again.

The Four “Fear Nots” of the Christmas Story

#Discover the four “Fear Nots” of the #Christmas story and how #God speaks #peace into #fear. From #Zechariah, #Mary, #Joseph and the #shepherds, #Scripture reveals how God addresses the #unforeseen, #unbelievable, #unexpected, and #unusual. This Christmas #devotional #explores Luke 1-2 and #Matthew 1, #encouraging #Chriatian #believers to #trust God’s #sovereignty, embrace obedience, and #worship #JesusChrist with renewed #faith during the Christmas season. #FaithJourney #WomenInTheWord #Bible
I am not one to read a book repeatedly, even if it was really good, because the fact that I know how it is going to end ruins the suspense of turning the page. Maybe you enjoy the familiarity of an excellent story and return to it and collect new pieces of information with each reading.

Of course, God’s Word is so different from the stacks of books on my shelves in my home. It is the story that recounts His story and how His story intersects and changes my story and yours! It is the one book that I never tire of reading because it is God’s Word! Even with the fathomless truth of God’s Word, there are times when my heart and mind wander, and I struggle to see those truths. Of course, that is no fault of God’s Word, but instead of my own heart, which can quickly be remedied by drawing nigh to God and asking His Holy Spirit to speak to my heart from His Word.

3 Biblical Responses to Waiting (Part 2)

#Discover three #biblical responses to #waiting--Stand Still, Sit Still, and Be Still--and how each offers #wisdom, #peace, and #direction during life’s hardest delays. This #encouraging #Christian #devotional explores #Exodus 14, Ruth 3, and #Psalm 46, revealing how #God strengthens #faith, calms worry, and deepens #trust as we wait on Him. Find #hope, #purpose, and practical #guidance for #navigating every season of waiting with confidence in God’s #sovereignty and unfailing care. #BibleStudy
Last month, we began looking at this inevitable aspect of life – waiting! No one can avoid it, and very few can make it go faster. There is always something to wait for in life. Knowing that waiting is part of life can be frustrating while we sit in the doctor’s waiting room, the DMV line, or the line at the grocery store.

Maybe your waiting is for something much more important, like waiting for a loved one to trust Christ or for the Lord to answer a prayer request that you have prayed for years. Maybe you are waiting for a child to come back to Christ or for the results of a scary medical test. Maybe you are waiting for Christmas to come, or for a change in job, or a move that is on the horizon.

I could go on and on naming things we are waiting for because these scenarios are part of every aspect of our lives.

3 Biblical Responses to Waiting (Part 1)

#Discover 3 #biblical responses to #waiting in this #encouraging #devotional, 3 Biblical Responses to Waiting (Part 1). #Learn how to #trust #God in seasons of uncertainty by “standing still” as #Moses and the #Israelites did in #Exodus 14:13-14. This #faith-based study explores how waiting is never wasted when we rest in God’s #promises, rely on His timing, and let Him fight for us. Perfect for #Christian #women seeking #encouragement, patience, and #peace while waiting on the #Lord.
Life is a series of events. Think of a timeline where you can plot important events from your life. Each point represents something that happened in your life, maybe it was a decision you made or something that happened without even your input, but then you realize that in between each point on the timeline of our lives is a space…filled with WAITING! Life is just a long game of waiting, isn’t it?

What do I mean by that? Well, think with me. Little girls are waiting to grow up. Teens are waiting to go to college. College graduates are waiting to get married. Married couples are waiting to have children. Parents are waiting for their children to grow up, go to college, and leave home. Parents of adults are waiting for their adult children to start their own families so they can be grandparents, and on and on the waiting goes.

Extraordinary Faith: Part Two

Discover the extraordinary #women of the #Bible--Martha and Mary--in this inspiring blog post. #Learn how Martha’s service and Mary’s devotion both reveal unique ways to honor Christ. Explore lessons on faith, balance, hospitality, worship, and spending time at Jesus’ feet. This Bible study encourages women to embrace their God-given gifts without comparison, focusing on serving and learning from Christ. Perfect for Christian women seeking encouragement, discipleship, and deeper spiritual growth.

Lessons from Martha and Mary

Last month, we looked at an extraordinary woman whom Jesus met at the well outside Samaria. If you were listing the exceptional women in the Bible, would you have started with the Samaritan woman at the well? Maybe not, but I love the interaction and conversation that Jesus has with her. As a result of their conversation, this woman made SURE of her salvation, and then she was compelled to SHARE her faith!

She was the spark that ignited a multi-day revival in the city of Samaria. I can’t wait to meet some of those people who trusted Christ because an extraordinary woman was willing to deal with her eternal destiny and then cared enough to point others to the One who could give them living water as well.

Lessons from the Woman at the Well

What is the definition of extraordinary? According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, extraordinary means “very unusual and special; different in type or greater in degree than the usual or ordinary.”

Do you think there are any extraordinary women in the Bible? Who comes to mind? Maybe names such as Esther, Deborah, Sarah, Ruth, Mary, or Lydia come to mind. Maybe there are others that I didn’t name that you think of as extraordinary from your study of God’s Word.

What is it that makes them extraordinary? I would submit that it is their actions, attitudes, and aspirations that make them stand out from others. Whole books have been written about women such as these and others.
