Welcome to week four of our Summer 2020 Book Club-Style Bible Study--She Loves Truth.

I know no other book of the Bible that says more about truth than Proverbs. The book of Proverbs is full of truth. In Proverbs 14:1-12, Solomon tells us the best place to seek truth is in God’s Word. So, let’s do that today!

This summer, we are looking for truth in a 10-week study of the book of Proverbs. Join us each Tuesday morning at 9:00, June 2 - August 4, and let’s seek truth together and record what we find because She Loves Truth!

So far, we've looked at Proverbs 1-3: Trust in the Lord, Proverbs 4-6: Practical Truths For Living, and Proverbs 7-9: The Blessings of Wisdom. This week we'll be studying Proverbs 10-12, and Truths to Help You Thrive.

Truths to Help You Thrive

Chapters 10-12 of Proverbs are filled with profound truths. These truths were not only profitable to the people of King Solomon’s day, but they are also profitable to us and will be for generations to come. Let’s look at a few of these truths that will help us lead a life that pleases God and will help us thrive as Christians.

"The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry" (10:3).
"The hand of the diligent makes rich" (10:4).
"The memory of the righteous is a blessing" (10:7).
"The wise of heart will receive commandments" (10:8).
"Whoever walks in integrity walks securely" (10:9).
"The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life" (10:11).
"Love covers all offenses" (10:12).
"The wise lay up knowledge" (10:14).
"Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life" (10:17).
"Whoever restrains his lips is prudent" (10:19).
"The blessing of the Lord makes rich" (10:22).
"The desire of the righteous will be granted" (10:24).
"The righteous is established forever" (10:25).
"The fear of the Lord prolongs life" (10:27).
"The hope of the righteous brings joy" (10:28).
"The righteous will never be removed" (10:30).
"The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom" (10:31).
"The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable" (10:31).

Just in chapter 10 alone, we find well over a dozen truths. There are others listed in chapters 11-12 that speak to us specifically: “A gracious woman gets honor” (11:16), “Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion” (11:22), and “An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones” (12:4).

If we choose to live our lives according to these simple truths found in Proverbs, we will thrive!

Proverbs is so full of good stuff, I sometimes wish the chapters were shorter in order to take it all in more easily. No matter how often we read it, we gain wisdom each time.

It's so funny how I can read these passages over and over again and every time, something new pops out at me! I always assume that's what God has for me that day, and usually, it seems to turn out that way.

The Proverbs are so truth-dense that I have to read slowly--and I find it to be overwhelming if I try to rush through.

Oh the great book of Proverbs. Loaded with so much wisdom and truth. The book I turn to when I need quick instructions on a matter. The visuals so clearly presented in the words get me every single time for example, “Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman without discretion” I literally see a pig's big ol snout with a huge gold ring dangling in it and my God...I do not want to be that woman.
