A Journey of Worship: Psalm 120

In ancient times, the #Israelites took journeys to the #temple in #Jerusalem to #worship. These were sacred occasions during yearly festivals. Their journeys included singing the Songs of Ascent, a collection of Psalms 120-134. These songs reminded them of God's grace and mercy. They also reminded them of His provision, protection, and salvation. These reminders were especially comforting during challenging times. We still need to be reminded of #God's goodness and these 15 #Psalms do just that!

A Journey of Worship:
The Psalms of Ascent

Today, our places of worship are much closer, but we can still learn from this ancient practice. We still need to be reminded of God's goodness and these 15 Psalms do just that!

A Prayer for the Broken-Hearted

7/28/2023

The pain, the void, and the uncertainty -- as there are questions for those left behind that remain unanswered. I’ve cried countless tears, not only to have lost a friend but for his family, who are as dear to me as my own. When #tragedy strikes and the unimaginable happens, it feels impossible to think, to #pray. The words just cannot come, and if they do, they don’t do justice to what we're feeling and experiencing. Praise the Lord that He understands us even when don’t understand ourselves.
This past week my husband and I received some soul-crushing news. A dear friend of ours had ended his own life. While we knew that he had wrestled over the years with seasons of depression, most people would never have guessed that he had any such struggle.

He was one of the kindest, most effervescent, and most selfless people I’ve known. He loved the Lord and his family. He faithfully served the Church. But away from watchful eyes and in the private spaces of his heart and mind, he struggled. He fought until the very end to try to overcome the darkness and depression, clinging to His faith and Scriptures such as
 Psalm 143.

To say that his family and friends are gutted, not only to have lost him but in such a way as this, is an understatement. There are no words. For the past days, even now, it is all I can think about.

Dear #God, I come before You with a humble heart, asking that You would enlarge my heart. As the #psalmist wrote, I have chosen the way of #faithfulness and I set Your rules before me. But I know that I cannot do this on my own. I need Your help, Your strength, and Your guidance. God, please help me to cling to Your testimonies and not be put to shame. Help me to run in the way of Your commandments with #joy and enthusiasm. Enlarge my heart, God, so that I may have a greater capacity to love...

Dear God, I come before You today with a humble heart, seeking Your #guidance and #wisdom. I ask that You would #teach me Your statutes, and help me to understand and follow them more closely. Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Help me to walk in Your ways and to keep Your commandments. Help me to #meditate on Your Word day and night, that I may know Your will and follow it with all my heart. #God, I know that Your statutes are good and perfect and that they... #prayer

The Romans Road to Salvation

The Romans Road to Salvation
"What is the Romans Road to Salvation?" you might ask.

It's a step-by-step road map of sorts through the book of Romans (the sixth book in the New Testament) that explains the simple plan of salvation.

Each step is so clear that even a child can comprehend and understand how to be saved.

Verses like Romans 3:10, "None is righteous, no, not one," Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," and Romans 5:8, "but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" are included in the road map.

We have a Romans Road to Salvation printable we sell here over in our little Etsy shop, but today, I want to give it to you for free!
