The psalm is widely attributed to King David. However, some scholars believe it was written by someone else. It is believed by many to have been penned following the Jew's exile in Babylon. The exact date of its composition is unknown.
Overall, Psalm 119 is a celebration of the importance of God's Word in the life of the faithful. It is also a call for us to obey and follow His Word. It's a hymn of praise and is often used in liturgical readings. It has been set to music by many composers. It can also be a prayer. Today, let's look at one of seven prayers that as believers we should be praying from Psalm 119. 4. “Enlarge my heart.""I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set Your rules before me. I cling to Your testimonies, O Lord; let me not be put to shame! I will run in the way of Your commandments when You enlarge my heart!" Psalm 119:30-32
Dear God,
I come before You with a humble heart, asking that You would enlarge my heart. As the psalmist wrote, I have chosen the way of faithfulness and I set Your rules before me. But I know that I cannot do this on my own. I need Your help, Your strength, and Your guidance. God, please help me to cling to Your testimonies and not be put to shame. Help me to run in the way of Your commandments with joy and enthusiasm. Enlarge my heart, God, so that I may have a greater capacity to love You, to serve You, and to follow You.
How will you be praying Psalm 119 today?

What a beautiful phrase to include in our prayers ... "enlarge my heart." I used to think Psalm 119 was long and kinda boring, but now I'm excited when I get to it in my reading plan. Not sure what made the difference ... maybe learning to love the Bible in a deeper way?
