Aging With Grace: Week One

6/7/2022

Maybe you’re like me. At first glance, it sounds like “Aging with #Grace” is a subject for the ag-ed, but I need to remind you that whether we are 18 or 98, all of us are #aging and therefore need to be aging gracefully. For years this was not me. Nearing my senior year of college, I was teetering on the edge of childhood and adulthood and resisting the latter. It seems crazy now, but I shed many tears, because I did not want to become an adult. This was a lack of trust in God’s design for me.

Join us for our Summer 2022
Book Club-Style Bible Study

We are using the book Aging With Grace

by Sharon W. Betters and Susan Hunt.
“Where we look determines what we worship, and what we worship determines what we become.” —Aging With Grace
How would you like to learn how to age with grace with us this summer, friend? I have done this study, and let me tell you, it is not just for older women! We are all aging, even if you're 18 years old, you're aging, and we all want to do it with grace, right? Join me here or eight weeks this summer on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 est beginning June 7 through July 26.

Sweeter Than Honey: Steadfast Love and Faithfulness

5/31/2022

Psalm 100 is a short #psalm with a powerful, familiar message. You may recall #memorizing and reciting it around the time of #Thanksgiving when you were a child. The theme here is #God’s steadfast love and #faithfulness. It's something we need to be reminded of over and over, day after day, isn't it!? It’s something to ALWAYS be #thankful for! This psalm tells us to do 7 things because of His steadfast love & faithfulness to us. Let’s see if we can find all 7 and record them. #Biblestudy #faith
From the Old Testament to the New, the eternality of God's Word is clearly proclaimed:

Job tells us, “I have treasured the Words of His mouth more than my portion of food” (Job 23:12).

Isaiah reminds us that, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

And Matthew records Jesus saying, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

God's Word is like an eternal Love Letter to us!

Have you ever received a love letter, friend? Did you read it? Did you read it just once, or did you read it over and over again? A Love Letter is a treasure when you love the One who sent it!

Sweeter Than Honey: Tell of His Glorious Deeds

5/24/2022

In #Psalm 78, Asaph reminds us how important it is that we tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the #Lord. Why is it important? “…so that they should set their #hope in God and not forget the works of #God…” (78:7). I can’t express how important it is that we pass on to future generations, to our #children and our children’s children, what God has done in our lifetime and the “…things that we have heard and known, that our #fathers have told us” (78:3). #Biblestudy #devotional

Sweeter Than Honey: Let His Glory Shine!

David writes #Psalm 57 after he flees from Saul and is hiding from him in a cave. David wants #God’s glory to shine over all the earth. David is once again pleading for God’s mercy when he makes this statement: “for in You my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by” (57:1). David is hiding in a cave waiting for the storms of destruction to pass by. Are there storms in your life today that you need to take refuge from? #devotional

Sweeter Than Honey: You Are Not Forsaken

In #Psalm 37, David reminds us that #God will not forsake us. He writes, “I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his #children begging for bread” (37:35). He reminds us to #trust the #Lord, do good, #dwell where He has placed us, and be #faithful. We are to delight ourselves in the Lord, and when we do, our steps will be established. We’re to commit our ways to Him, and be still, waiting patiently for His leading. #Biblestudy #devotional #truth #faith

Sweeter Than Honey: In The Shadow of Your Wings

5/3/2022

In chapter 17 of Psalms, we find the first prayer of David. He asks the Lord to hide him in the shadow of His wings. David is looking for protection from wickedness and from his enemies. David’s enemies most likely were real men who were out to destroy his reputation or kill him. We probably don’t have people who want to kill us today, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have enemies. When I read David’s prayer, I think of the enemies I need to pray to God for protection from--mainly the enemy of sin.

Sweeter Than Honey: Using Our Time Wisely

4/26/2022

As I read Proverbs 22-24, I am struck by the words to the wise about how we are to use our time. In Proverbs 22:13, I see a worrier, a person who is hunkered down in their comfort zone and afraid to venture out into the unknown because of potential dangers. I've often said, “Good things are waiting for you, friend, just outside your comfort zone--things you never dreamed possible. And the best thing is, God is waiting to meet you there!” It's the truth, friend! #Biblestudy #devotional #goodreads
