Sweeter Than Honey: Steadfast Love and Faithfulness

Psalm 100 is a short #psalm with a powerful, familiar message. You may recall #memorizing and reciting it around the time of #Thanksgiving when you were a child. The theme here is #God’s steadfast love and #faithfulness. It's something we need to be reminded of over and over, day after day, isn't it!? It’s something to ALWAYS be #thankful for! This psalm tells us to do 7 things because of His steadfast love & faithfulness to us. Let’s see if we can find all 7 and record them. #Biblestudy #faith
From the Old Testament to the New, the eternality of God's Word is clearly proclaimed:

Job tells us, “I have treasured the Words of His mouth more than my portion of food” (Job 23:12).

Isaiah reminds us that, “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

And Matthew records Jesus saying, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

God's Word is like an eternal Love Letter to us!

Have you ever received a love letter, friend? Did you read it? Did you read it just once, or did you read it over and over again? A Love Letter is a treasure when you love the One who sent it!

Psalms 100-102: Steadfast Love and Faithfulness

Psalm 100 is a short Psalm with a powerful, familiar message. You, as I, may remember memorizing this chapter when you were a child and reciting it around the time of Thanksgiving.
The theme here, once again, is God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. It is something we need to be reminded of over and over, day after day. It’s something we should always be thankful for. This Psalm tells us to do seven things because of His steadfast love and faithfulness to us. Let’s see if we can find all seven and record them.
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He Who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!

For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 100:1-5)
Grab a piece of paper and record the seven things Psalm 100 tells us to do:
  1. Make...
  2. Serve...
  3. Come...
  4. Know...
  5. Enter...
  6. Give thanks...
  7. Bless...
Why do we do these seven things? Verse five tells us: “For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations” (100:5). Forever, and to all generations!
I have wonderful memories of memorizing and reciting Psalm 100 in church and at school when I was growing up. It's a psalm we hear and read mostly at Thanksgiving, but shouldn't we meditate on this psalm and take to heart its message all throughout the year?

About Sweeter Than Honey

When I read God’s Word each morning, I find inspiration and insight that keeps my day on track. Join me on this journey. Let’s settle in with His Word—it’s His Love Letter to us. Did you know that? Let’s read it like a love letter, expecting to glean something for our walk with Him every day. Let’s look for peace in the chaos and strength for our weaknesses. Even on our busiest days we can carve out a few minutes to refocus on the important—the eternal. Can’t we? We may have to get up a little earlier, when the house is still and quiet, or stay up a few minutes after the others are all tucked in for the night, but we can do this! I know we can.
Let's be intentional about focusing on God’s Word and the truths found there. Let's let it inspire us to live out our faith each day in a way that causes those we come in contact with to want what we have found. God sees you. He knows you by name, He knows the number of hairs on your head, and He cares about every detail of your daily existence. He wrote you a Love Letter. Let’s dive in!

“Prayer does not mean simply to pour out one’s heart. It means rather to find the way to God and to speak with Him, whether the heart is full or empty. No man can do that by himself. For that, he needs Jesus Christ.” ―Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Psalms: The Prayer Book of the Bible

My kids memorized this in their school around Thanksgiving, but you're right, it's good for every day!

Barbara, I love discovering these 7 things in Psalm 100 that we should be doing every day:
MAKE a joyful noise to the Lord...
 SERVE the Lord with gladness!
COME into His presence with singing!
KNOW that the Lord, He is God!
 ENTER His gates with thanksgiving...
 GIVE THANKS to Him...
 BLESS His name!

GREAT REMINDERS!!

"for the Lord is good" - if we could just reflect on this every day, we might go more good in the world too. I'm so grateful for God's steadfast love for all. Thanks for sharing this lovely passage.

This is the second time I have seen something on Psalm 100 today. And I started reading through the Psalms this week for my quiet time. I think God has something for me here.

And it's not even November, Lauren!! I'm sure He does have something here for all of us!

"For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures FOREVER, and His faithfulness to ALL generations." Psalm 100:5

That's such a great promise to meditate on!!

I love this, and spelling out 7 things I can easily do appeals to my Type A nature. I also love v. 5 in Ps. 100 that reminds me of God's steadfast, or faithful, love will last FOREVER.

Precious reminders, Jerralea!!

I also love these reminders I'm reading today from Psalm 103:
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name! 🙌🏼 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,
👉🏼 who forgives all your iniquity,
👉🏼 who heals all your diseases,
👉🏼 who redeems your life from the pit,
👉🏼 who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
👉🏼 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm‬ ‭103:1-5‬

He is, Donna!! Today I am reading Psalm 113, and this psalm, one of the Hallelujah Psalms 🙌🏼 begins and ends with “Praise the Lord!”

“Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord!

Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised!

The Lord is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens! Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of His people.

He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!” Psalm‬ ‭113:1-9‬

I especially love verses 7 and 9: “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap…He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!”
