Click here to enterPatsy, I've read through the chronological Bible once and enjoyed it very much. It was meaningful to read the Psalms with David's life.
I love reading through the Bible in that order as well, Debbie. But Sweeter Than Honey is different. It takes the reader through God's Word in chronological order of book authorship. I've actually never seen a 365-day devotional that does that, and I am SUPER EXCITED to journey through the book and Scripture with the girls over in the private, Sweeter Than Honey, Facebook group starting in January of next year!!!
Love this series! Today's offering is very thought provoking to consider Solomon's humility and his priorities. I know more often than not, I run into the day with my agenda "first". Working on this, and today's devotional was helpful in giving me food for thought.
Thank you so much, Donna! You will LOVE the book!! Solomon was so wise! We have much to learn from him. I do the agenda thing too—quite often. There are many days when God has to gently remind me that He's in charge, not me.
I find, quite often, Michele that many of the verses I have memorized as a child need to be put back into their context. I love going back to those passages and doing that. Sometimes I find that God meant something totally different than what we think when we take that one little verse out of context.
Great post Patsy! Yes, many people don't realise that the books of the old testament aren't in chronological order. And it's such a revelation when they find out!
You're most welcome to join me in a cuppa at Tea With Jennifer,
Blessings,
Jennifer
Thank you so much, Jennifer! I'm headed over there right now! :)
That's a wonderful approach, Lesley!! Reading the Bible chronologically can indeed provide a deeper understanding of the context and connections between different passages. It's fascinating to see how the narrative unfolds in chronological order. I'm glad you found it helpful in making sense of the overall message.
