Leviticus 4-6: He Makes a Way
Today, in Leviticus 4, we read about the laws for sin offerings. The chapter tells us about sin offerings for individuals, priests, the whole congregation, leaders, and common people. Much of the time, these people were commanded to bring either a bull, “…he shall offer for the sin that he has committed a bull from the herd without blemish to the Lord for a sin offering” (4:3), or a goat, “he shall bring as his offering a goat, a male without blemish…” (4:23). Not everyone had the means to do that though.
However, when it comes down to the common people, the people like you and me, I love that the Lord includes them as well. He knows they don’t have the means of some of the other people in the congregation; but they are still accepted. There is a way made for them to come to the Lord as well. “If anyone of the common people sins unintentionally in doing any one of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, and realizes his guilt or the sin which he has committed is made known to him, he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without blemish…. “a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat, for a sin offering. And the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin.
God makes a way for each of us to be able to come to Him. He is not a respecter of persons.
Don’t misunderstand me. There is only one way for us to come to Him, and that way is “by grace… through faith” in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). That’s the Good News of the Gospel. However, each of us has that opportunity no matter our financial standing in the community, the color of our skin, our nationality, or the sinfulness of our heart. God has made a way! Once we have come to Him “by grace through faith,” it is then our responsibility to share that Good News of the Gospel with others so that they too will have that opportunity. He makes a way!
He made a way for me through my third-grade teacher. She led me to the Lord on a city park bench during recess. How did He make a way for you?
About Sweeter Than Honey
When I read God’s Word each morning, I find inspiration and insight that keeps my day on track. Join me on this journey. Let’s settle in with His Word—it’s His Love Letter to us. Did you know that? Let’s read it like a love letter, expecting to glean something for our walk with Him every day. Let’s look for peace in the chaos and strength for our weaknesses. Even on our busiest days we can carve out a few minutes to refocus on the important—the eternal. Can’t we? We may have to get up a little earlier, when the house is still and quiet, or stay up a few minutes after the others are all tucked in for the night, but we can do this! I know we can!
Let's be intentional about focusing on God’s Word and the truths found there. Let's let it inspire us to live out our faith each day in a way that causes those we come in contact with to want what we have found. God sees you. He knows you by name, He knows the number of hairs on your head, and He cares about every detail of your daily existence. He wrote you a Love Letter. Let’s dive in!

Yes, He does, Donna! He still makes a ways for us to come boldly to Him, and then He reminds us, "I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5b

He made a way for me after my parents divorced and we moved to a new and humongous city. God miraculously provided the way for me to go to a Christian school, and then I started attending the church associated with the school. I had been in church off and on and heard the gospel off and on, but this was when it finally gelled for me. Thankfully, this church not only preached the gospel, but emphasized being in God's Word daily. I am so thankful for that good grounding, for God's grace, for His bringing me to Himself, for His Word, and for His presence with me every day.
