Sacrifices of Thanksgiving from Psalms 107

For years I claimed Psalm 107:2 as my life verse. 

"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from trouble." Psalm 107:2

He certainly redeemed me from a life of potential trouble. I am so thankful today for His pursuing, redeeming, rescuing love towards this unworthy soul! 

We traditionally center our Thanksgiving praise around the five verses of Psalm 100. Maybe you memorized these verse as a child. It's a beautiful passage of thanksgiving and praise. ​Psalms 107 is another beautiful passage of thanksgiving and praise. It begins in with "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!" and ends with "Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord."

Again and again, throughout the passage, it speaks of "His steadfast love." So today, let's consider the steadfast love of the Lord. I hope you can find time today to sit with your family and read this passage in its entirety.

​Here's a brief synopsis: ​Verses three through five speak of how He gathers His people from all the corners of the earth. "Some wandered in desert wastes... hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them." Does this sound like your plight before you met the Savior? Wandering? Hungry? Thirsty? A soul seeking truth? Not at all knowing yet of the steadfast love of the Lord? Not knowing the Deliverer was at the same time seeking you?  ​

​​Verses six and seven speak of that Deliverer. ". . .He delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in." Then again, verse eight speaks of ". . .His steadfast love. . ."

​Verse nine is so beautiful. I just want to shout it from the rooftop! "For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things." THAT WAS ME! That was me a hundred times over! Maybe that was you too. My soul was longing, hungry, and I can honestly say He has filled it with good things. Not just temporal good things, but eternal good things. And if there is anything good in this longing soul, it is all of Him, none of me.

​Over and over, throughout the remainder of the passage, it speaks to those who have turned their backs on Him and how they fall into trouble. how they cry out for help, and how the steadfast love of the Lord prevails! THANK YOU JESUS! It speaks of how His pursuing, redeeming, rescuing love towards the unworthy soul prevails! ". . .His steadfast love endures forever! (v 1).

​I hope today that you have found this steadfast love! I hope your longing soul is satisfied, and your hungry soul is filled with good things. I hope today you find His pursuing, redeeming, rescuing love towards you to be enough.

"And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of His deeds in songs of joy!" Psalm 107:33
