"The first step to my sanctification is knowing that I am a child of God. Without the blood of Jesus, it would be impossible for me to be sanctified. Now that I am saved by grace through faith in what Jesus has done for me, I can continue my sanctification until I meet my Savior face to face in glory. There I will be fully sanctified.
Every day I need to purposely sanctify or set myself apart from the world and give myself wholly to the Lord. As I do, the Lord will make me holy. Israel was God’s chosen people; as a child of God, I am one of His chosen, set apart to do His will, and therefore should live significantly differently from the world. Psalm 119:3 says, “They also do no iniquity: they walk in His ways.” Who are “they?” I am one of the “they!” Does that mean I will never sin again? If only that were true, but as a sinner saved by grace, I am no longer enslaved to sin. Instead, God’s grace is all-sufficient to help me live out a holy life before a holy God. I am sanctified by Truth, and God’s Word is Truth. I must spend time in the Truths of the Word of God if I am to know the Lord and walk in holiness as He commands. Through His Word, He will sanctify me and help me to keep His commandments. “For this is the will of God, your sanctification…” (1 Thessalonians 4:3a).
“We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).
Titus 2:11-14 gives a clear path to being sanctified:
I cannot make myself holy. Am I foolish enough to think that having started my life in the Spirit, I can become more holy through my own efforts? Just as I trusted Christ by grace through faith, I must continue working for Him by faith alone. “The Just shall live by faith.” I must work out my salvation with fear and trembling, FOR IT IS GOD Who works in me, to make me willing to love Him and serve with all my heart and to do it for HIS GOOD PLEASURE. It pleases Him when I sanctify myself so that He has the freedom to make me holy and to perfect me more and more until the day of Jesus Christ." —Ellen

Amen. Michele!! :) That's the essence of the Gospel—our hope anchored in what Christ has accomplished for us. It's not about our efforts, but about His finished work on the cross. Grateful for His grace!
