Praying Proverbs Over Your Child

As Christian parents, it is our responsibility to teach our children to be more like Christ, and we need help with this daunting task. We need a resource for character building!

There are a lot of books written on child-rearing, but let me introduce you to the best child-rearing book ever written—the book of Proverbs. It’s God’s textbook for the task of raising little Christians that become adults who strive in every way to be more like Him. Read it, study it, meditate on it, teach it to your children, and PRAY IT OVER THEM!

As I wrote Hey Mama! PRAY, I found that many of the topics covered in the study pertained as much to me personally as they did to my children. I often found myself not only praying over my children but also praying for myself.

I appreciate this exhortation to pray Proverbs for my kids .
I am praying through Psalms right now!

Praying over our children is so important, Michele, even when they are grown! I love that you are praying through Psalms over them now. I've done that as well. Both books are great for this! :)

This sounds like a great resource, Patsy. I spent a lot of time in Proverbs when my kids were younger.

I did too, Barbara. I never felt as if I spent enough time though. Still now I don't feel I spend enough time praying over them. Even though they are adults, they still need it. Maybe now even more. And then there are the grandchildren... PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

What a great idea! I've heard of praying the Psalms over your loved ones, but not Proverbs!

Both books are great for praying over loved ones, Jerralea, but I am especially drawn to the truths of Proverbs.

My children are adults now and however old they are,they need their mother’s prayers. Proverbs is full of wisdom,I will continue praying for my children.

You are so right, Laila! Mine are as well and sometimes I think they need more of their mother's prayers as adults than they did as children. I don't know how that is possible, but it seems so.
