5:12 – A sound of wailing and gnashing of teeth is heard from a little one who is certain that the newly acquired scrape is signaling their demise.
5:14 – Another teenager decides to unload the latest installment of “as the school year turns.” I offer up my best attempt at wisdom in my current frame of mind only to be met with, “Mom, you just don’t understand me!”
5:22 – I find myself sitting on the front porch in the freezing cold trying my best not to lose my mind or cause alarm to my neighbor who is out walking her dog.
Sitting on my porch, my prayer rang out again as it has so many times. "Lord, I was more like a feather than a wall in the last few minutes. I am crying out to you for forgiveness, help, and a new gaze. Please allow me, by Your grace, not to be moved." How can the next time go the way my heart desires?
How can a feather-like faith be transformed into a brick wall of resolution and strength?
Psalm 16:8 states, “I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.” The only way to be unmovable is to keep our eyes firmly fixed on the One who remains the same through it all. Then we must remind ourselves that we are not standing alone. God stands at our side with His arms bracing us against any circumstance.
Come what may, God never changes His position or falters under the weight. We are not moved because He can’t be.
Well, as I gathered myself together to head back in the fray, I had the right gaze and the reminder of His arms holding me. The next 30 minutes actually still resembled the previous set, but there was a difference. I wasn’t resting in my strength, determination, or wisdom. Now I was resting on the only One who can never be shaken.
Feather like faith to a brick wall resolve requires us to set the Lord always before us and to rest in Him alone. What are you resting in today? Are you resting in your own strength, determination and wisdom? Or are you resting in the only One who can never be shaken.

Oh, so vivid an image. Life does seem to land like bricks sometimes. This blow by blow description was probably good medicine for your soul as you laid it all out for God's eyes.

God is so gracious to live in each moment with me. I am thankful that no minute escapes His eyes, and blow by blow was such a fitting phrase!!

What great encouragement!! I will most likely remember this as there are many times I can relate to needing to take a pause. It is something I'm trying to improve in, instead of responding to quickly. I don't need to be a feather I need God's strength to make my responses settled in God's strength.

So grateful this encouraged you. Pausing to take in a deep breath of my loving God is still where I struggle too. I think it will be a continuous journey this side of heaven. I am grateful for a new chance each day, and as a mom there is always one waiting.

The little things are what seem to daily drain my faith. But those little things are the same things that can put tread on our faith. He keeps growing me in the details for sure.
