Biblical Version of Captain Small Pig

​I have long loved the book Oh, the Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss. But today, I am more in love with it than ever because of what Kristen, over at Joyfully Thriving, has done with it.

This past summer, my friend Joy introduced me to Kristen's site. I love what she's done with Oh, the Places You’ll Go, Guess How Much I Love You, and I Wish You More. She writes meaningful, thought-provoking Scripture in the pages of these books! ​Kristen has a free printable you can download here for Oh, the Places You’ll Go. You can buy the printable in her Etsy shop for Guess How Much I Love You. She also sells all three books—with Scripture writing in them—in her Etsy shop.

I downloaded Kristen's free printable for Oh, the Places You’ll Go. Then, I purchased the printable from her Etsy shop for Guess How Much I Love You. These guides helped me create Scripture books for our grandsons.

​Shortly afterward, my sweet mama came up with a book of her own. She asked me to create a biblical version of the book specifically for her. I was hesitant at first to try to come up with the verses for this new book, Captain Small Pig. But after praying over it, God led me to just the right Scripture and I love how the book turned out!

Friend, you can do this too! Your handwriting does not have to be perfect. Mine isn't. Your handwriting is uniquely yours and that's what makes this a priceless gift.

Biblical Version of Captain Small Pig​

Captain Small Pig is a charming story of family and a day on the water.

Out on Blue Lake with his parents Old Goat and Turkey, Small Pig is ready for an adventure.

“I’m Captain Commander!” Small Pig said.
“Aye aye, Captain Small Pig!” yawned Old Goat. “You are in charge of this boat!”

But Small Pig soon tires of rowing and falls asleep.

​Before they know it, the boat is drifting across the lake, and grumpy Turkey is in for a soaking!

I love Martin Waddell’s quirky tale and Susan Varley’s lovely illustrations. They make for a gentle bedtime story filled with quite an adventure.​

The story and verses written in the book, Captain Small Pig, will reassure your child:

• To trust God.
• That God will show you the way you should go.
• God will establish our way when we delight in Him.
• God knows the plans He has for us.
• God makes a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters.
• Again... God establishes our steps.
• God says, "This is the way, walk in it."
• Again... God directs our steps.
• God is our Redeemer and He says, "I am the Lord your God...Who leads you.”
• God works all things together for good.
• When we wait on God, He gives us strength.
• And finally, "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer."

I don't know a better book to put a kiddo to bed with. It's a great adventure and message.
