Any work for God is going to have adversaries.
See if you can identify the weapons of adversaries in these six verses: “Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the returned exiles were building a temple to the Lord, the God of Israel, they approached Zerubbabel and the heads of fathers’ houses and said to them,
“Then the work on the house of God that is in Jerusalem stopped, and it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.” Ezra 4:24
Let's not let the weapons of adversaries stop the work of God in our lives today!
We find in chapter 6 that the Temple is finally finished and dedicated. This was accomplished despite the adversaries. In verses 13-18, we read that the people worked “with all diligence.” They also “celebrated the dedication of the house of God with joy.”
How will you be like Ezra today?

Those verses in Ezra certainly help us in recognizing and dealing with those who oppose Christ and His people.

Yes they do, Debbie! And it's so funny, because I had read this passage before and didn't see it. But WoW! What a call we have to be like Ezra! Study. Do. Teach. And let God do the rest. The results are His and for this we praise His name.

Patsy, such an encouragement to read this post today. I have been thinking deeper on verse 10 since reading it earlier. May my heart always be set to study God's Word, practice it, and teach it. May God bless you!

“For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord, and to do it and to teach His statutes and rules in Israel.” Ezra 7:10

You know I've read these verses before but never caught the Weapons of adversaries before. Pausing to reflect here. Thank you for hosting this great community.

That's one reason I love reading God's Word over and over and over again, Paula. Even though I've read passages many times before, so often I see something I've never seen before. I believe the more we study God's Word the more He opens our eyes to additional truths. "Pausing to reflect" is a beautiful thing!!
