When Nothing Makes Sense

​There are seasons in life when nothing seems to make sense. I've been there. You've probably been there as well.

The pieces don’t fit together. The answers don’t come. The pain doesn’t seem to lift. The waiting stretches longer than we expected. The prayers we have prayed over and over feel like they are met with silence.

Maybe you are walking through one of those seasons right now.

Your heart feels tired from carrying questions you cannot answer. Your mind replays situations you cannot fix. Your faith feels stretched by circumstances you never imagined facing.

Friend, when nothing makes sense, go back to what God has promised.

• Not what your feelings tell you.
• Not what the world around you says.
• Not what fear whispers in the quiet moments.

Go back to the unchanging truth of God’s Word.

​Because...

• When everything around us feels uncertain, His promises remain certain.
• When the world feels unstable, His character remains steady.
• When our circumstances shift, our faithful God does not.

His Word is our anchor, and His promises hold us steady.

All throughout Scripture, God repeatedly reminds His people of who He is and what He has promised to do. These promises are not empty words; they are declarations from a God who is faithful, loving, and completely trustworthy.

When you don’t understand the path ahead, hold tightly to these truths: He will never leave you. You may feel alone in your struggle, but you are never abandoned.

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8

God goes before you. He walks beside you. He stays with you.

He has good plans for you.

Even when you cannot see what God is doing, you can trust that He is working according to His perfect wisdom.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

God’s plans are not limited by your current circumstances. He sees what you cannot see and He will give you rest. 

​Some burdens become too heavy for us to carry alone. And I love that Jesus invites us to bring them to Him.

“Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

The peace of Christ is not found in having every answer. It is found in trusting the One who does.

His grace is enough, and your weakness does not disqualify you. Your struggles do not surprise Him.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

God’s strength meets us exactly where our strength runs out. He will fight for you.

There are battles we cannot win on our own.

“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14

Sometimes faith looks like moving forward. Sometimes faith looks like standing still and trusting God to work. Never forget--He hears and delivers.

Your prayers are not falling into an empty sky. God hears every cry.

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17

Even when the answer is delayed, God is not distant.

He works all things for good and He never waste our pain.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good.” Romans 8:28

This does not mean everything that happens is good. It means God is powerful enough to redeem even the hardest things.

He will be with you in deep waters. Some seasons feel overwhelming, but God promises His presence in the middle of them.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… they shall not overwhelm you.” Is. 43:2

The storm may be real, but so is the presence of God. He will protect you.

God remains our refuge and defender.

“No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed.” Isaiah 54:17

He will provide for you. Our Father knows our needs and invites us to seek Him.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

He will instruct you. When the way forward feels unclear, God promises you guidance.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.” Psalm 32:8

He hears before we even speak. God’s awareness of our needs is deeper than we can comprehend.

“Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24

When nothing makes sense, remember what does. 

Whatever you are walking through today, remember this:

• God is faithful.
• God is with you.
• God is working, even when you can't see it.
• God’s promises are stronger than your circumstances.

When your heart feels lost and your path feels unclear, go back—not to your fears, not to your feelings, not to the uncertainty around you—but to the promises of God. That is where you will find peace. That is where you will find strength. And that is where you will find Him.

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God will stand forever.” Isaiah 40:8

God’s Word does not change. His character does not change. His love for you does not change.

And when nothing makes sense, you can always return to what has always been true.

He is faithful.
