The Bible speaks extensively about the Feast of Unleavened Bread, as it speaks to Jesus, sinless and pure, being buried in the tomb (1 Peter 2:22). This feast reminds us to remove sin from our lives and walk in holiness.
In 2025, the Feast of Unleavened Bread begins on the evening of April 13 and ends on the evening of April 20. The Feast of Unleavened Bread is a call to holiness. It is closely associated with the Feast of Passover and holds deep spiritual significance. "And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall have a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. But you shall present a food offering to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work." Lev. 23:6-8
In Leviticus 23:6-8, we see God's command for Israel to observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days, eating only unleavened bread: “On the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread” (Leviticus 23:6).
In Exodus 12:15-20, we read where the feast is instituted during the Exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, symbolizing their deliverance: “For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven out of your houses...” (Exodus 12:15). And, in Exodus 13:3-10, God commands the Israelites to remember this day and teach future generations about their deliverance: “Remember this day in which you came out from Egypt, out of the house of slavery, for by a strong hand the Lord brought you out from this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten” (Exodus 13:3).
Let's look at the meaning and symbolism of the Feast of Unleavened Bread:
How is this fest fulfilled in Jesus Christ?
What is the spiritual application today for us as believers? Paul connects this feast to the Christian life in 1 Corinthians 5, urging us to live in holiness: “Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven... but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth” (1 Corinthians 5:7-8). The Feast of Unleavened Bread is a powerful reminder for us of God’s call to holiness, Christ’s sinless sacrifice, and our response to living set apart for Him. Just as Israel removed leaven from their homes, we are called to remove sin from our hearts, living in the purity of Christ. As we reflect on this feast, may we be reminded to walk in sincerity and truth, embracing the righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ alone.
How does the Feast of Unleavened Bread challenge us to examine our own lives and remove the “leaven” of sin, just as Israel was commanded to do?

Amen, Michele!! God’s call to holiness is just as relevant today as it was in biblical times. Through Christ, we are set apart to live for Him! May we daily seek to walk in His ways and reflect His holiness to the world.
