This journey is rooted in the rhythm of Prayer, Praise, and Promise—a reminder that God is our refuge, our joy, and the faithful Keeper of every soul. As we lift our prodigals before Him, we also allow His Word to strengthen our hearts in the waiting.
Your prayers matter, friend. Your faith is not in vain. The Father still calls His children by name, and His arms remain open. I hope you'll also join us over in the private Prodigal Prayers Facebook group and walk this journey with others who believe in the power of prayer. Let’s begin again today—trusting God together. A Prayer for Waiting
This week, as our hearts pour out in prayer over the prodigal, let’s find peace in the beautiful words of Psalm 37. Verses 3-7 specifically resonate deeply with me as I lift my supplications to the Lord for my prodigal.
"Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him..." Psalm 37:3-7a "Trust Him" verse 3 says. In the midst of uncertainty, in the place of my doubt, I put my trust in the unwavering faithfulness of the Lord. I will continue to do the good thing, the thing I was called to do— lift my supplications daily before my God. "Dwell." This verse also reminds us where our feet should be firmly planted—dwell in the land of faithfulness. Be faithful. Just be faithful! Let me ask you this, friend, what is the desire of our heart? Why are we reading this book? I know the desire of my heart. It’s to bring that prodigal son back to Jesus. The desire of your heart is probably pretty similar. Maybe it’s a son, maybe a daughter, but you want to see them walk into the open arms of our Savior in full surrender, right? Read verse 4. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He WILL give you the desires of your heart." What does it mean for us to delight ourselves in the Lord? It means that we exalt God so highly that we pursue Him over and above anything else. We pursue Him over and above any other person, any other thing, any thought. The Hebrew word translated as "delight" in Psalm 37:4 comes from a root word that implies pleasure and enjoyment. Do we find pleasure and enjoyment in seeking after God, or has it just become routine? When we find pleasure and enjoyment in seeking after God, our desires will align in harmony with His. Our desires will be His desires, "and He will give you the desires of your heart." How do we do this? How do we delight ourselves in God's presence? By praying, as we are. By reading and meditating on His Word, the Bible. By singing songs of praise and worship to Him. These are the ways we delight ourselves in the Lord and His Word promises that He WILL give us the desires of our hearts.
Verse 5 tells us to do two things: be committed and trust. He WILL act. Verse 7 tells us to do two more things—be still and wait patiently. The waiting, the patience—sometimes it feels almost unbearable, doesn't it? Yet, in verse 5, there's a resounding promise that God will indeed act if we commit our ways to Him and trust in His sovereign plan.
As we navigate this season of intercession, let’s remind ourselves of the actionable steps outlined in this passage. Do good. Even in the waiting, we are called to actively pursue goodness. Dwell in this faithful place, recognizing that God has placed me in a specific season for a purpose. Be faithful, be committed to faithfulness, praying always with perseverance. Delight in Him. Delight in His presence. In the quiet moments, bind yourself to His unchanging nature. Psalm 37 serves as a guiding light in the darkness of the waiting room of God, reminding us to trust Him and be faithful as we lift our prodigal boldly before the throne of grace. Heavenly Father,
In this season of waiting, am I truly delighting myself in the Lord—finding joy in His presence—or simply going through the motions while I wait for Him to act?

Thank you for your honesty, Michele—you’re definitely not alone. Waiting has a way of stealing our joy if we’re not careful.
