This journey is rooted in the rhythm of Prayer, Praise, and Promise—a reminder that God is our refuge, our joy, and the faithful Keeper of every soul. As we lift our prodigals before Him, we also allow His Word to strengthen our hearts in the waiting.
Your prayers matter, friend. Your faith is not in vain. The Father still calls His children by name, and His arms remain open. I hope you'll also join us over in the private Prodigal Prayers Facebook group and walk this journey with others who believe in the power of prayer. Let’s begin again today—trusting God together. A Prayer for Breath
"Then he said to me, 'Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’"
Ezekiel 37:4-6
In the book of Ezekiel, we encounter a powerful illustration of God's redemptive power and His ability to breathe new life into the most hopeless situations.
In Ezekiel 37:4-6, the prophet Ezekiel is brought to a valley filled with dry bones, a vivid representation of spiritual death and decay. Yet, in the midst of this desolation, God commands Ezekiel to prophesy over the bones, speaking life into them through the power of His Word. As Ezekiel obeys, we witness a miraculous transformation unfold before our eyes. Sinews, flesh, and skin cover the bones, and breath enters them, bringing them back to life. This passage serves as a powerful reminder of God's sovereignty and His ability to bring about restoration and renewal, even in the most hopeless of situations. Just as God breathed life into the dry bones, He can breathe new life into our prodigal, restoring them to spiritual wholeness. As we pray over our prodigal, we are called to speak life into their situation, declaring God's promises of redemption, restoration, and reconciliation. We are called to intercede boldly on their behalf, trusting in God's faithfulness to fulfill His Word. Like Ezekiel, we may not always understand how God will accomplish His purposes, but we can have confidence that He is working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).
In addition to Ezekiel 37:4-6, we also find encouragement in other passages of Scripture that speak to God's heart for the prodigal.
In Ezekiel 34:11-16, God declares His intention to seek out His lost sheep, gathering them back to Himself and caring for them with compassion and love. This imagery of God as the faithful Shepherd reminds us that He never gives up on the prodigal, no matter how far they may stray. Therefore, we should never give up praying for them! As we lift our prodigal up in prayer, let us cling tightly to the promises found in God's Word, trusting that He is able to accomplish immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Let’s declare with confidence that just as God brought life to the dry bones of Ezekiel’s day, He can bring life to the prodigal, breathing new hope, purpose, and joy into their lives. As we pray over our prodigal this week, let’s also pray for ourselves to have faith, hope, and unwavering trust in God's promises. Heavenly Father,
What “dry bones” in your life or in the life of your prodigal might God be inviting you to speak His Word over in faith today?
