In ancient times, the Israelites took journeys to the temple in Jerusalem to worship. These were sacred occasions during yearly festivals. Their journeys included singing the Songs of Ascent, a collection of Psalms 120-134. These songs reminded them of God's grace and mercy. They also reminded them of His provision, protection, and salvation. These reminders were especially comforting during challenging times.

Today, our places of worship are much closer, but we can still learn from this ancient practice. We still need to be reminded of God's goodness and these 15 Psalms do just that!

4 Pillars of A Praying Mother

A thought began to creep into these quiet moments, whispering,

Rocking my youngest child late one evening, I replayed the day. One filled with activity, conversations, and a few tears. We are in a hard season of life, I kept reassuring myself. These stages change, and things will smooth out. No one can be all things to all people all the time.

Yet, I felt discouraged and worried. I had no idea how best to love my teenager with big feelings, nor did I feel confident connecting with my reserved ten-year-old. I worried I was reacting in anger rather than tenderly discipling toddler and preschool souls. As I moved back and forth in the rocker, my thoughts swayed back and forth between empty assurances that things would get better and condemning fears that I could mess everything and everyone up.

Over the next year, I became increasingly anxious as crises continued from my children, job struggles, loneliness, and discouragement.

Through #prayer, we seek #God, drawing nearer to Him. We confess our sins, ask for #forgiveness, and appeal for mercy through prayer. Through prayer, we find comfort and express #gratitude. We intercede for others, as #Jesus intercedes for us (Romans 8:34), through prayer.
