Sweeter Than Honey: It Is Good, Finished, and Done

12/31/2024

From #Genesis to #Revelation, #God's Word is His divine Love Letter. In Genesis, we see the beauty of creation as God declares, “It was very good” (Genesis 1:31). On the cross, Jesus cried, “It is finished” (John 19:30), paying the ultimate price for our sins and fulfilling the plan of #salvation. In Revelation, we glimpse the promise of a new #Heaven and new earth. Jesus declares, “Behold, I am making all things new…It is done! I am the #Alpha and the #Omega” (Revelation 21:5-6). #BibleStudy
What if we spent a few quiet moments with God each morning? What if we were intentional about making time for it? And what if we committed to doing that all year long, only to find that by the end of the year, we had read the entirety of God's Word—His Love Letter to us?

How many times have you, on January 1, resolved to read the Bible from cover to cover in a year? I’ve made that commitment more times than I can count, and I’ve failed more times than I’d like to admit. But a few years ago, I tried something different—I used a one-year, chronological order of book authorship, Bible Reading Itinerary. Did you know that Genesis wasn’t the first book of the Bible written? While these plans can vary, since it's impossible to pinpoint exact dates for some books, the plan I used began with the book of Job. Let me introduce you to Sweeter Than Honey, a book patterned after that Bible Reading Itinerary.

4 Anchor Points of Hope in Uncertain Times

12/27/2024

Are you feeling adrift in #uncertain times? Life can feel like a stormy sea sometimes, tossing us with waves of #uncertainty and #anxiety, but we don’t have to drift without direction. #Jesus offers us four unshakable Anchor Points of #Hope to steady our hearts and guide us through life’s challenges. Anchor your heart with these 4 #truths: #God's #purpose, God's deity, God's design, and God's delight. Find #peace and hope in the One who never changes! #HopeInUncertainty #Faith #JesusOurAnchor
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also….Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” John 14:3, 12-13
In a world where uncertainty seems to be the only constant, it’s easy to feel adrift and anxious. But as believers, we are not left without hope. The words of Jesus in the Gospel of John offer us four anchor points to settle our hearts and find peace in His promises. Let’s explore these foundational truths that can steady our souls in the midst of life’s storms.

Sweeter Than Honey: Love Meets Needs

12/24/2024

The Apostle John’s letters overflow with a powerful theme: LOVE--love that walks in #truth, supports others, and mirrors #God's incredible love for us. John calls us to action, reminding us that love isn’t just words; it’s lived out in deeds and truth. “If anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?” (1 John 3:17) He points us back to #Jesus, the ultimate example of love who laid down His life for us. #WalkInTruth
What if we spent a few quiet moments with God each morning? What if we were intentional about making time for it? And what if we committed to doing that all year long, only to find that by the end of the year, we had read the entirety of God's Word—His Love Letter to us?

The Greatest Gift

12/20/2024

Christmas is almost here! Are you ready? Whether your #gifts are wrapped or last-minute, the #joy is in the #giving. But have you considered the greatest #gift of all? #Isaiah 9:6 says,
Christmas is almost here! Have you got all the gifts you need to purchase? Are you one of those amazing people who have them all wrapped and ready for Christmas already? Maybe you are one of those people who will wait until the last few days before Christmas to get out and get all the things you need and then stay up all night on Christmas Eve to get them wrapped. The only sad thing is that ready early or just finished on Christmas Eve, most will watch the kids demolish the amazing wrapping in seconds, but that’s the fun of the act of giving the gift, right? In the moment when you give the gift, do you think about the cost of the gift? In the moment of receiving the gift and all the excitement that goes along with it, maybe the cost isn’t on our minds, but after reflection, we must recognize that the giver freely gives his gift to the receiver out of a heart of love. The gift is given without any strings attached even though it costs the giver personally to give it.

Sweeter Than Honey: She Has Done What She Could

12/10/2024

In Mark 14, a woman with an alabaster flask of costly ointment poured out her love for #Jesus, anointing Him for burial. Her act of #devotion left a #legacy--one Jesus declared would be remembered wherever the #Gospel is #preached. This story challenges us to consider: What legacy are we leaving behind? Will it be said of us,
What if we spent a few quiet moments with God each morning? What if we were intentional about making time for it? And what if we committed to doing that all year long, only to find that by the end of the year, we had read the entirety of God's Word—His Love Letter to us?
