In John 10:1-18, Jesus presents one of His most beloved and comforting "I AM" statements: "I am the Good Shepherd." This profound declaration reveals His deep care, guidance, and sacrificial love for His followers. Understanding Jesus as the Good Shepherd strengthens our faith and highlights His unwavering commitment to leading and protecting us. Jesus makes this declaration in a conversation with the Pharisees, contrasting Himself with false shepherds who lead the flock astray. In the agricultural society of ancient Israel, the imagery of shepherds and sheep was deeply familiar. Shepherds were responsible for guiding, protecting, and caring for their sheep, often risking their lives to ensure their safety.

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Whether it's your schedule, responsibilities, or unexpected challenges, we all have moments when we feel like we can't carry the weight of this season. But there’s hope! Dive into Psalm 61 and explore how King David, despite his overwhelming circumstances, found strength, security, and peace in God’s presence. David didn’t rely on his own abilities--he cried out to God and sought refuge in Him. And you can do the same! Let's walk through this powerful psalm together!

“Overwhelmed” is a word we hear a lot in our culture today. As I write this post, I can honestly tell you that my schedule and all that is going on looms like an overwhelming cloud. It’s just part of life, it seems, to walk in and out of overwhelming circumstances sometimes daily. I have even heard children use this term while they are playing. What is it that causes us to be so overwhelmed in life? I wish I had an answer and a cure for that part of life, but I am not attempting to give great insight into that question in this post. My purpose in this post is to encourage your heart if it is overwhelmed today. Maybe you are not at that point today, but you know that it can happen at any point of any day in the future. So, let this post be a point of reference for you in your moments of feeling overwhelmed. What are we, as believers, supposed to do when we are overwhelmed? I believe that the Psalmist explains this very clearly in several passages in the Psalms. Let’s look at my favorite one today – Psalm 61!

This statement is rich with meaning and offers deep insights into who Jesus is and what He brings to humanity.

The setting for Jesus' declaration of, "I AM the Light of the World" is the Feast of Tabernacles, a significant Jewish festival that included a ceremony of lighting lamps in the temple. This ceremony commemorated God's guidance of the Israelites through the wilderness with a pillar of fire—a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13:21-22). Against this backdrop of divine light, Jesus proclaims Himself as the true and ultimate light, bringing not just temporary illumination but eternal clarity and guidance.

One of the most powerful and evocative of these is found in John 6:22-59, where Jesus declares, "I am the Bread of Life." This statement, rich with spiritual significance, offers a profound insight into who Jesus is and what He offers to those who believe in Him.

The setting for this declaration follows the miraculous feeding of the 5,000, an event where Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fish to feed a vast crowd. This miracle not only demonstrated Jesus' divine power but also set the stage for a deeper teaching about spiritual sustenance.

The day following the feeding of the 5,000, the crowd sought Jesus out, crossing the Sea of Galilee to find Him.

This summer, I committed to #walking 5 miles daily as part of a 100-Day Challenge--there are 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day, so my journey began on Memorial Day. My routine includes a

In our busy lives, we often find ourselves juggling multiple responsibilities, from work and family to social engagements and personal aspirations. Amidst all this, one aspect that sometimes gets overlooked is our physical health. However, the Bible provides profound insights into the importance of maintaining our bodies as part of our spiritual journey.

This summer, I have been participating in a 100-Day Challenge. There are 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day, and I have committed to walking five miles each day, except Sundays, which is my rest day.

Since starting, my blood pressure has dropped, and I've lost more than a few pounds, which I totally wasn't expecting. My morning routine now includes a cup of coffee and Bible reading, followed by what I call my "Worship Walk." I even have a Worship Walk playlist on Spotify!
