Prodigal Prayers: Week 4 – A Prayer for Faith explores 2 Chronicles 20 and the powerful prayer of Jehoshaphat, offering biblical encouragement for those praying for prodigal children or loved ones. This devotional focuses on faith over fear, trusting God when we feel powerless, standing firm in prayer, and believing that the battle belongs to the Lord. A hope-filled resource for families seeking God’s guidance, peace, and restoration through persistent, faith-filled prayer.
Welcome, friend.

If you’re here, it’s likely because you love someone who has wandered—or because your own heart knows what it feels like to wait, hope, and pray through the ache of distance. You’ve prayed. You’ve wept. You’ve waited. And today, once again, you are choosing to press in.

In 2026, we are walking this road together.

Each Tuesday, we gather here to work through Prodigal Prayers: 52 Weeks of Praying Over the Prodigal—one week at a time, one Scripture, one prayer, one promise.

There is no rushing here and no falling behind. Come when you can. Stay as long as you need. This is a place for steady faith, honest prayers, and hope that is anchored in our faithful God and refuses to give up.

5 Principles to Follow as You Look to God’s Plan

1/23/2026

Discover 5 biblical principles to follow as you seek God’s plan instead of your own. This encouraging Christian blog post explores trusting God when plans change, surrendering control, overcoming worry, and growing in faith through life transitions. Rooted in Scripture like Proverbs 16:9 and Proverbs 3:5-6, it offers hope and guidance for navigating unexpected change, ministry shifts, family crises, and seasons of uncertainty with confidence in God’s will.
I don’t know what your tradition is at the start of a new year, but I often spend some time looking back at the year that has passed and considering what God has done while I anticipate the year ahead and what God will do. This year was no different in that regard, but it was unique in the circumstances for me.

Last year, I was able to spend Christmas and New Year’s with missionary friends in Italy. As I left Italy early in January 2025, I asked the Lord what He had planned for me in 2025. I had plans for the ministry in England, and for enlarging my influence with other ministries the Lord had opened for me as well. I never expected to be sitting here one year later, making plans to leave my ministry in England, which I love with all my heart, to move to another foreign country and start all over again.

“Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and He relents over disaster.” Joel 2:13
This is one of the most stunning truths in all of Scripture—God relents. He doesn’t delight in judgment. He longs to show mercy.

Over and over again—across the pages of both the Old and New Testaments—we see a God who is moved by repentance, touched by prayer, and faithful to His character. When hearts soften and turn, He pulls back His hand, not because He changes His mind flippantly, but because this is who He is.

Today, let's explore a few key moments in Scripture where God (and Jesus, who is fully God) relents over disaster.

Waiting Isn’t Wasted explores the #biblical purpose of #waiting seasons and how #God uses delays to shape our #faith, reveal our hearts, and prepare us for future #blessing. Through personal reflection, #Scripture, and real-life illustrations, this #Christian blog post #encourages #believers to #trust God’s timing, grow in perseverance, and find #hope in seasons of waiting. Perfect for anyone feeling stuck, #discouraged, or longing for God’s #promises to unfold. #BibleStudy #WomenOfTheWord
Often, as one year comes to a close and a new one begins, we consider the changes we’d like to make or how we can implement new rhythms and routines to better our lives. While I think looking ahead and setting goals is a worthy endeavor for the new year, it is also a great time to pause and look back. For the last couple of years, I have tried to make it a practice to spend time reflecting on the closing year.

What were the high points?
What were the lows?
How did God show His faithfulness?
What lessons has God taught me that I want to carry with me into this new year?

That last question is something I have really given a lot of thought to in the past couple of weeks. Throughout the past year, God taught and revealed many things to me.
