7 Biblical Feasts That Point to God's Redemptive Plan

The 7 #biblical feasts, found in #Leviticus 23, aren’t just ancient traditions--they reveal #God’s plan of #redemption, fulfilled in #Jesus #Christ! Each feast tells His story. In this post, we will highlight these seven feasts and their profound connections to God's #redemptive plan for mankind. Did you know these feasts are divided into two seasons--Spring and Fall? The Spring feasts were fulfilled in Jesus' first coming, and the Fall feasts point to Jesus’ second coming. #BiblicalFeasts #Bible
"The Lord [Yahweh] spoke to Moses, saying, 'Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, These are the appointed feasts of the Lord that you shall proclaim as holy convocations; they are my appointed feasts.'" Leviticus 23:1-2
The Bible outlines seven major feasts given to Israel by God in Leviticus 23. These feasts were more than just religious observances—they were divine appointments that pointed to God's plan of redemption. Each feast carries deep spiritual significance, with many fulfilled in Jesus Christ, while others still point toward His second coming.

In this post, we will highlight these seven feasts and their profound connections to God's redemptive plan for mankind. Then, over the next seven weeks, we'll take a deep dive into each feast.

Let's begin by dividing the seven feasts into two seasons—Spring and Fall:
  • The Spring feasts (1-4) were fulfilled in Jesus' first coming. They were prophetic shadows of His death, burial, resurrection, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
  • The Fall feasts (5-7) point to Jesus’ second coming. They prophetically foreshadow future events surrounding Christ’s return, judgment, and reign.

Here's an overview of each feast. Stay tuned for a deep dive starting next Tuesday with Passover!
  1. The Feast of Passover (Pesach) – Redemption through the Blood of the Lamb
2025: Begins at sunset on April 12 and ends at sunset on April 20
    Leviticus 23:5; Exodus 12
Passover commemorates Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, where the blood of the sacrificial lamb spared them from judgment.
Fulfillment in Christ: Jesus is the ultimate Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7; John 1:29). His sacrificial death on the cross delivers us from the penalty of sin.

  2. The Feast of Unleavened Bread – Purity and Separation from Sin
2025: Evening of April 13 to evening of April 20
    Leviticus 23:6-8
For seven days, Israel ate unleavened bread, symbolizing the removal of sin (leaven) from their lives.
Fulfillment in Christ: Jesus, sinless and pure, was buried in the tomb (1 Peter 2:22). This feast reminds us to remove sin from our lives and walk in holiness.

  3. The Feast of Firstfruits – Jesus’ Resurrection
    2025: April 20 (Easter Sunday)
    Leviticus 23:9-14
Israel offered the first sheaf of the barley harvest to God as a sign of gratitude.
Fulfillment in Christ: Jesus rose from the dead on this feast day, becoming the Firstfruits of the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-23). His resurrection guarantees ours!

  4. The Feast of Pentecost (Shavuot) – The Giving of the Holy Spirit
    2025: Sunday, June 8
    Leviticus 23:15-22
Fifty days after Firstfruits, Pentecost marked the giving of the Law at Mount Sinai and the wheat harvest in Israel.
Fulfillment in Christ: On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early Church (Acts 2). Just as the Law was written on stone at Sinai, the Spirit now writes God's law on our hearts (Jeremiah 31:33).

  5. The Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) – The Call to Repentance & Return of Christ
    2025: Sunset September 22 – Sunset September 24
    Leviticus 23:23-25
The feast is marked by the blowing of trumpets (shofars), calling Israel to repentance.
Future Fulfillment: Many believe this feast symbolizes the Rapture or Christ’s return, as the trumpet will sound when Jesus comes for His Church (1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thess. 4:16-17).

  6. The Feast of The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) – The Nation’s Cleansing & Judgment
    2025: Sunset October 1 – Sunset October 2
    Leviticus 23:26-32
The High Priest entered the Holy of Holies once a year to make atonement for Israel's sins.
Future Fulfillment: This feast points to the final judgment and Israel’s national repentance (Zechariah 12:10; Romans 11:26).

  7. The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) – God Dwelling with His People
2025: Sunset October 5 – Sunset October 12 (Shemini Atzeret on October 12)
    Leviticus 23:33-43
Israel lived in temporary shelters (booths) for seven days, celebrating God's provision.
Future Fulfillment: This feast points to the time when Jesus will dwell with His people in His Millennial Kingdom (Zechariah 14:16-19; Revelation 21:3).
These feasts serve as a divine blueprint for God's ultimate redemptive plan for mankind. The Spring feasts were fulfilled in Jesus’ first coming—His death, resurrection, and Pentecost—while the Fall feasts likely foreshadow His second coming, including the rapture, judgment, and His reign.

Each feast highlights God's perfect plan of redemption, revealing how Jesus is at the very center of every appointed time. As we study them in depth in the coming weeks, we will see a beautiful picture of salvation unfolding throughout history.
Which feast stands out to you the most? How do you see Christ in these biblical celebrations?

All throughout scripture, we see the shadow—and then the reality expressed in Christ! And I miss so many of the connections. One day, we'll see clearly our great salvation!
