Peace is a gift; but it is also a discipline. God offers us peace freely. It’s a fruit of His Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and a promise Jesus personally gave:
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27
Notice the condition again: Let not your hearts be troubled… God’s peace is a gift—but we have to choose it, protect it, and cultivate it.
So why do we struggle to let peace rule in our hearts? The struggle often lies in the voices we allow to rule our hearts instead:
But Colossians reminds us that we were “called in one body” to peace. It’s not just an option—it’s our inheritance in Christ.
Today, let's look at five ways we as believers can let the peace of God rule in our hearts:
Peace is a ruler, not a visitor. Paul didn’t say, “Let peace drop in when it's convenient.” He said, “Let it rule.” God’s peace isn’t a fleeting feeling—it’s a reigning presence. But it won’t force its way in. We have to let it sit on the throne of our hearts, every day.
So today, choose peace over panic. Trust over turmoil. Christ over chaos. Let it rule!
