5 Ways Jesus Perfectly Reveals God’s Ethos

In Part 1 of this study, we explored 6 Key Aspects of God’s Ethos:

• God Is Holy
• God Is Faithful and True
• God Is Love
• God Is Just and Righteous
• God Is Merciful and Gracious
• God Is Unchanging

​Today, let’s dive into how Jesus perfectly reveals God’s ethos. Scripture teaches that Jesus is not just a representative of God’s character but the perfect embodiment of it. In fact, Hebrews tells us Jesus is “the exact imprint” of God’s nature.

"He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power...." Hebrews 1:3

1. Jesus Is the Visible Image of the Invisible God
   “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation” (Colossians 1:15). If you want to know what God’s character is like, look at Jesus. His life, His words, and His actions reveal the heart of the Father.
   
   
2. Jesus Reflects God’s Glory and Nature
   “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power” (Hebrews 1:3). Jesus doesn’t just resemble God; He is the radiance of God’s glory. He reflects not just parts of God's ethos but the fullness of it.
   
   
3. Jesus Shows God’s Love
   “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross is the clearest demonstration of God’s boundless love and deep mercy for humanity.
   
   
4. Jesus Demonstrates God’s Justice and Mercy Together
   “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). At the cross, God's justice (the penalty for sin) and His mercy (forgiveness for sinners) meet perfectly in Jesus.
   
   
5. Jesus Makes God’s Heart Known
   “No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, He has made Him known” (John 1:18). Jesus doesn’t merely tell us about God—He embodies the Father's heart. Through Him, we see God's compassion, patience, and truth.

Jesus Christ is the full revelation of God’s ethos—His holiness, love, mercy, justice, faithfulness, and truth—lived out in perfect human form. When you see Jesus healing the sick, forgiving sinners, teaching truth, and dying on the cross, you are witnessing the character of God in action.

Now that we’ve defined the 6 Key Aspects of God’s Ethos and explored 5 ways Jesus perfectly reveals them, next week we’ll dive into John 14:9, where Jesus makes an incredibly personal and powerful statement about seeing the Father’s ethos: "Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father."
