1. Settle Your Heart in His Purpose for You“Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek Me, and just as I said to the Jews, so now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going you cannot come.’” John 13:33
Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure, but He did not leave them without a clear mission. Even though He would no longer be physically present with them, He gave them a purpose: to love one another as He had loved them. This command wasn’t just for the disciples—it’s for us too. In uncertain times, when we’re unsure of what’s coming next, we can find stability by focusing on the purpose Jesus has given us: to love others. This is our mission, our calling, and it’s something we can hold onto when everything else feels shaky.
2. Settle Your Heart in His Deity“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.” John 14:1
Jesus understood that His disciples would be troubled by His departure, but He reassured them by reminding them of His divine nature. Just as they believed in God, they were to believe in Him. Jesus is fully God, and all that is true of the Father is true of Him. He is eternal, unchanging, and faithful. In times of uncertainty, we can find peace by resting in the truth that Jesus, who is fully God, will never leave us or forsake us. His deity is an anchor for our hearts, giving us confidence that He is in control, even when our circumstances are not.
3. Settle Your Heart in the Design of the Father“‘Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.’” John 14:1-3
Jesus didn’t just leave us; He went to prepare a place for us. Everything is unfolding according to the divine design of the Father. Jesus’ departure was necessary to secure our future with Him. He is preparing a place for us in His Father’s house, and He will return to take us there. In the meantime, we can trust that every part of our journey is under the careful orchestration of God’s perfect plan. When life feels chaotic, remembering that our future is secure in Christ gives us the courage to face each day with hope.
4. Settle Your Heart in the Delight of the Father“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also…. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” John 14:3, 12-13
Jesus’ ultimate joy is to see us, His perfected bride, standing by His side in glory. He delights in us, and He is committed to providing everything we need to make that a reality. We are not just awaiting a future hope; we are living in the midst of God’s delight right now. Jesus’ promise to answer our prayers, to empower us to do even greater works, and to glorify the Father through our lives is a testament to His deep love for us. When we settle our hearts in the delight of the Father, we can live with confidence, knowing that He is for us and working all things together for our good.
In these uncertain times, let us anchor our hearts in these four unshakable truths: His purpose, His deity, His divine design, and His delight in us. As we meditate on these anchor points, may we find the peace and hope that only Jesus can provide. He has not left us without a clear mission, a firm foundation, a secure future, and a deep love that holds us steady. Let these truths guide you as you navigate the challenges of life, knowing that you are deeply loved and firmly held by the One who never changes.
What would change in your life if you fully anchored your heart in Jesus' unchanging purpose, divine nature, perfect design, and deep delight for you?
