10 Things God's Word Says About Us

​The Beautiful Story of God’s Work in Us

Our faith is not simply a moment when we say “yes” to Jesus. It is the beginning of a lifelong transformation—a beautiful story of God’s love, grace, redemption, and power working in our lives.

From the very beginning, God is the One who initiates the relationship. He pursues us, calls us, forgives us, and continues shaping us into the image of Christ. Our salvation is not about what we accomplish for God; it is about what He has already accomplished for us through Jesus.

1. Loved: God Loved Us First
   “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Before we ever searched for God, before we were born, even before the foundation of the world, God was already loving us. His love is the foundation of our faith. We are not saved because we are lovable, good, or worthy. We are saved because God’s love reached toward us first. His love is not based on our performance. It is rooted in His character. Before we were forgiven, redeemed, or transformed, we were loved.
   
   
2. Chosen: God Sets Us Apart
   “Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him” (Ephesians 1:4). God’s love leads to His choosing. Being chosen by God does not mean we are better than others; it means we are recipients of His grace. He calls us out of darkness and into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). Our identity is not found in what the world says about us. It is found in the truth that we belong to Him.
   
   
3. Called: God Draws Us to Himself
   “And those whom He predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified…” (Romans 8:30). God does not simply choose us from a distance—He calls us into relationship with Him. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God draws our hearts toward Himself. He invites us to know Him, follow Him, and walk in His purposes. His call is not just an invitation to salvation; it is a call to a transformed life.
   
   
4. Forgiven: Our Sin Is Covered Through Christ
   “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses…” (Ephesians 1:7). Our sin separates us from God, but through Jesus, forgiveness is freely offered. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we do not have to carry the burden of guilt and shame. Our past does not define us. Our failures do not have the final word. In Jesus, we are forgiven.
   
   
5. Redeemed: Bought Back and Set Free
   “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us…” (Galatians 3:13). To be redeemed means to be bought back. Jesus paid the price we could never pay—That is mercy—God withholding the judgment we deserved. He rescued us from sin, death, and bondage and brought us into freedom—That is grace—God giving us the gift of salvation we could never earn. Redemption reminds us that God does not discard broken things—He restores them.
   
   
6. Justified: Declared Righteous Before God
   “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). Justification is one of the most beautiful truths of the Gospel. Because of Jesus, God declares us righteous—not because we have earned it (or ever could), not because we are worthy in and of ourselves, but because He is worthy. Christ’s righteousness has been given to us—this makes us worthy. We stand before God not condemned, but forgiven and accepted. Hallelujah! Our position before Him is secure because of Christ’s finished work.
   
   
7. Adopted: Brought Into God’s Family
   “You have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father'” (Romans 8:15)! God does not simply forgive us and leave us at a distance. He welcomes us home. Through Jesus Christ, we become His children. We are no longer strangers—we are sons and daughters of the King. Adoption means we have belonging, identity, and a forever family in God. Praise the Lord!
   
   
8. Sealed: Given the Holy Spirit as a Guarantee
   “When you believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 1:13). God does not leave us to live the Christian life in our own strength. He gives us the Holy Spirit as a seal—a promise that we belong to Him and that He will complete the work He began. The Spirit guides us, comforts us, convicts us, and empowers us to walk faithfully.
   
   
9. Transformed: Renewed and Sanctified
   “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” (Romans 12:2). Salvation is not the end of the story, friend—it is the beginning of transformation! God continues working in us, shaping our hearts, renewing our minds, and making us more like Christ. Sanctification is a lifelong process. Day by day, God teaches us to surrender more, trust more, and reflect Him more. One way I have found to "renew my mind daily is Scripture writing. Transformation takes time; be patient and trust the process. God is patient with us and faithful. 
   
   
10. Victorious: Living in Christ’s Victory
    “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57). Because of Jesus, we do not fight for victory—we fight from victory. Christ has already conquered sin and death. He has overcome this world! Our struggles are real, but they do not define our future. Victory does not mean a life without difficulty. It means we have a Savior who walks with us through every difficulty.

The beautiful work of God in our lives—from beginning to end—is our faith journey with Him. He loves us. He chooses us. He calls us. He forgives us. He redeems us. He justifies us. He adopts us. He seals us. He transforms us. He gives us victory. This journey reflects both God’s work for us through salvation and God’s work in us through sanctification.

So wherever you are in your faith journey today, remember this: You are deeply loved. You belong to Him. You are being transformed. And the God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.

“And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).
